Kuopio is a small and walkable city with lots of nice views. Great for a day trip.
Top Tips
- Weather can range anywhere from 12-30 degrees celsius in the summer. Pack accordingly closer to your departure date. Light layers are always great.
- The sunset time in Kuopio will be near midnight around midsummer, but never hits true darkness. If you are sensitive to light, we recommend packing a sleep mask.
- Driving is on the right
- Doors open outward. You are not stuck in the airport toilet, you just have to push, not pull 😉
- Finland uses the two-prong EU plug
- Alcohol (up to 5.5% ABV) is available to purchase in shops until 9pm. Wine and other spirits can be purchased at Alko shops until 9pm. They are very strict about checking IDs so make sure you have it on you!
- Mosquitos are prevalent in Kuopio, especially near lakes. We recommend packing mosquito repellent and dressing accordingly.
